 yoke travel repair
I kept having trouble with the yoke crawling back on the motor shaft, letting the prop nut grind on the bearing housing. I went to Fastenal and got a 1" split shaft collar. I clamped it down in front of the yoke. So far the yoke hasn't moved I think i'm gonna put a 3/4" collar behind the shaft yoke to keep it from pushing up into it's yoke. That happened during a duck hunt last yr. I was pretty fed up with long tails. Hopefully these collars will remedy my problem. Ebay has the split collars alot cheaper but I couldn't wait 3 days for delivery.

 Re: yoke travel repair
That's not a common issue with longtail. To the tune of I've only seen one other individual mention that issue. Is it a homebuilt or a common brand?

 Re: yoke travel repair
I use a 2 piece split shaft collar to keep the shaft from walking. I have never had a problem with a walking shaft after I started using them. I use one to transfer the thrust to the upper mounted bearing.

 Re: yoke travel repair
Ya Russ, kinda home built. !6hp Duromax. Bog Hog Frame with triple pipe stiffener braces I welded to it. Also Backwater yoke and tail shaft bearing housing kit. I replaced the Bog Hog shaft with a Backwater Shaft. (friendly helpful guys there at Backwater). That 16 isnt enough motor. This was my first longtail. It was a learning thing I guess. I tried a swomp 23 a friend got. Yep, I'm saving for one.
