Is that the same as the light series from backwater? If so I have the 23 light. My boat is 15/40. Its an old fisher aluminum boat I got a deal on (at least I thought so ) Loving it.

Depending on the boat's intended use, I'd go anywhere from a 1640 to 1648.

I'm also curious to see what kinda speeds you're getting. I have my backwater 23 on a 1440 and I can maybe get 18 by myself. Water definitely goes over the transom when I slow down, think I need a bigger hull

also have an Alweld 1644 Marsh series with a 23 hp Swamp.
Average speed fully loaded and just me is 17.5 mph. Top speed is a hair over 19 mph.
I couldn't be more pleased.

I have 23 swomp(old style) on 1648 alweld basic jon. With a 5 foot carp platform, trolling motor size 24 and 27 batteries and 2 guys(~525lbs) and very little gear I got 18mph. Without my buddy(~300) I get over 20..I think I can do a little better if I futz with the tracer plate...

Dang good speeds! I get similar speeds with my 26.5 swomp 59" on my grizzly 1648. With a 9x6 prop get 1 mph more but the 9x7 is better all around! Best to all been a long while, gearing up for teal season, God willing and the creek don't rise too much.
