I got me one of them throttle levers like Huck's thread a while back. Same one. I got a steel pipe that fits inside the handle on my swamp23 lite and it fits the inside of the new throttle lever. My plan is to cut the handle off my swamp and have my son weld the steel pipe in place....bridging the handle sections together, thus giving me the right diameter to attach my throttle lever. Heres my question. When I dry fit it in place (nothing is cut) the new throttle lever seems to not be able to travel as far as the current throttle on the swamp23. It hits the rubber grip it seems to soon. Is there a way to adjust the cable or something if it needs to be adjusted once I cut and install it? I'd hate to have it only be open 3/4 throttle if I do this. |

No welding needed , just use two, small , metal band clamps , attach where you want . Use the metal one about. 3/8ths wide that screw in and tighten. The extra distance or "furr out" between your new pipe and stock handle , will give you enough throw in the lever , for full travel . That's how I did it. H Finn |

Yea when I rough fit the way your talking about it does look like there is plenty of room for the lever to open the throttle up all the way. I was just looking at alternatives to keep it inline. But that way does not let the lever move as much. |

Another couple question. How did you secure wire itself on the new lever? Do I need to buy some kind of gizmo the hold the wire in place? And what type of spring did you use to retract the cable back to idle. The factory spring now couldn't pull a marshmellow thru a hot fire lol. |

You can buy various spring s at lowes , home depot, tractor supply, etc. , buy a couple different lbs.#, try a few out , just make sure throttle snaps back good. As far as the throttle cable. , I used stock original , just modded it a little . Trimmed it a little with a pair of dykes. H Finn |

OOPS! While trying out a few springs I was in the process of removing one. The dam thing went flying....back into the motor. It went where I could not throw it into on a million tries for a million dollars! Its sitting on the back side of the flywheel right in the middle/guts of motor. Its about the size of the factory spring but beefier. Is this something I need to get out? I pulled on the hand starter rope slightly and did not here a metal sound. I lowered a magnet rod down there but cannot quiet get to it. I can barely see it. I thought that spring would be the ticket but nope. |
