Post Grease for shaft
After some thinking in the off season, I think my auto greaser is not working correctly
on my shaft. I know that is not the correct name for it. Anyways after every use I pump grease into the shaft through the grease fitting and it usually comes out of the auto greaser. However the auto greaser never seems to empty out any. I have noticed the shaft gets hot while running some times.

My question is, does it sound like the auto greaser is broke? How do I check it and fix it? How much damage could this be causing?

I bought the motor second hand and only run maybe 3 tanks of gas through it a year. It's a 9hp go devil, it's old and has a 3 prop propeller.

Twist the top off and clean it out real good. There is a giant spring in there you can stretch a little bit. Once you reassemble it pump grease back into it. It should move up as you grease. A new one from GD is like $50 and takes 5 minutes to reinstall.

Sounds like the same as a bearing buddy for a trailer hub. I would make sure there is grease in there before you run t again.
