What grease has anyone used on a GD 23HP longtail besides the red GD grease? I'm thinking any marine type high quality grease should be OK. Anything to definitely NOT use? |

Lucas red n tacky here too. Use it on every boat motor, trailer, vehicle and piece of equipment I own. Doesn't hurt I get it by the case at work. ![]() |

I use AMS oil and have not had a problem. Very good chemistry in their products. I also use it in all my trailer bearings and hit the grease points with it on my Honda 15hp outboard. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

I must have got a bad tube of the Lucas red n tacky because I used it on a trailer when I put new wheel bearings in and that stuff got runny like honey and leaked out of some brand new bearing buddys. |

Sounds like it. I've been using it for years on all sorts of equipment and never had an issue with it thinning. I replaced my trailer hubs and bearings a couple months ago and haven't seen anything come out of the bearing buddies except for what leaked out the relief hole like it's supposed to. |

The blue Lucas extra heavy duty is good shit too. We use it on our bobcats and mini excavators at work and they get run hard Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just remembered a good one- Aqualube, I think the company is in Ky. If you have some extra dough, Mobil 1 synthetic is very good also; after break-in, or after your first oil change, IMO both synthetic oil and grease are recommendable. |

I run Mobil1 grease in the 5th wheel. Synthetic Rotella 5W-40 oil in the GD and all the other small engines. I'm experimenting with WalMart marine grease in the GD trailer bearings. So far it works good. I can't find that old Pennzoil blue marine grease anywhere. Lucas Red & Tacky will go in the GD. |

If I remember correctly, any waterproof #2 grease is fine. But, I always used Aqualube. You won't save any money if you have a bearing failure because of cheap grease. |
