Any of ya'll run a LT on a crawfish skiff? Trying to decide on a 1642ish uncle j skiff or whether to just go ahead and get a 1638 gd boat. Wanting to run a 23 longtail and mainly be in the timber with stumps and shallow hard bottom with a little grass sometimes. I had a 1648 gd boat with a 25 lt on it and it did fine until all my buddies bought surface drives lol Shoulda kept that rig. Any of you have either setup with a 23lt and could let me know how it performs etc |

My next choice for an LT would be the 23 (I have and am totally happy with my Backwater 26.5 efi), good weight to output ratio, plenty of mods for it, backup recoil start, and reliable motor with mostly favorable reviews. Should be a good match for both hulls you mentioned. I can understand the need for a "thick skin" hull in the bayou; I am always looking to stay light because of conditions here. Keeping up with the Joneses can sometimes make you forget how good you really have it. Try and reclaim your old GD rig! ![]() |

I had a 23 longtail on my 18ft skiff and did great. Got decent speeds out of it and handled well in the swamp. Wish I still had it sometimes lol |

it would run fine on a 20' skiff, and run in real shallow hard bottom. and handle several people. |
