My bushing did not take grease, fame was bent and the friction melted my shaft.
I bought a new shaft and a 3/4" pillar bearing.
Shimmed motor to align shaft down center of tube.

Welded on bearing mount, smooth as can be.
Drilled and tapped lower bearing 1/4" 28 and added a grease zerk which will be greased alot.
I will add a stainless tube with the auto greaser for lower.

Hopefully she will last longer than 30 minutes at idle this time.

That is creative right there :D doesn't godevil have a roller bearing upgrade for that? Which screws onto those threads. But yours has more character

An updated screw on bearing is avalibe but at a higher cost.

My issue is the shaft is not aligned in the center of the tube so the factory bearings would ride hard against the shaft.

With the $7 pillar bearing Alignment wasn't as critical.

Good job.
What about the cap on the upper end though? Isn't there a seal in there that keeps grease from slinging out?

Just put the upper cap back on there with the seal and leave the bushing out since you don't need it. That's what I'm getting at.

Lol maybe not every hour but I want to prolong the shaft and bushing.

The shaft is not center enough just yet for the cap and seal,I will twist and tweak the frame more and shim the motor some more.I do have seals coming though.

I dont ride a whole lot.

I bought it this way.
Its not bent too bad.
Voltage regulator is toast
25 kohler,dirty carb.

I paid $600 for it so im not complaining.
You can barely see the bend visually.
One of the cross braces are bent from a guy dropping it trying to remove it alone.

They're hit or miss around here for sure. I found a guy that takes great care of me and seems to enjoy messing with the stuff I bring him because it's different, but he's hasn't wanted to help other people I've sent his way. Weird.

When I had a GoDevil, my motto was "have grease gun, will travel". :geek:

My guy has done valve work for us, decking, cylinder work on several blocks, welded up a block for me, cut down some push rods, he's done all kinds of stuff for us. Tried to send him some business and he's told two different people "we work on harley's" He's always been chatty and happy to see me from the very first visit, never been too hesitant to do any of the goofy shit I've asked for help with, but then won't do simple work for others. Maybe I'm just that likable.

My brother used the longtail today, the stator is weak so we bring a spare briggszuki (9.9 suzuki outboardwith a 7hp briggs engine)just incase.
Thank God he had it today.
Dead battery,no fish either.

Still 25hp,9x7 prop,14x48 heavy hull, two guys and gear 15mph.......when the battery cranked lol

Briggszuki is aircooled, foward neutral and reverse, cheap on fuel and 6mph at 1800rpm.

Its a 70lb gas powered paddle.

Nice. I typically bring food and water and a 165 -240 lb paddle. They tend to give out a lot easier and complain more, but the entertainment value is worth it to me if my briggs decides to briggs.
