I am having a custom 1248 built in Louisiana and I have already bought a 6.5hp Beavertail longtail to push it.

12" sides and .100" thruout, small deck up front, basically the midget boat just a little wider.

Load out will be me, 185lbs in waders, a couple of dozen decoys, a small U1 deep cycle, small Yeti style cooler, gun, gear bag, and paddle.

Realistically, what kind of speeds can I expect?

Should I have the boat built as a 1242?

48, or even 52. I've been in the midget boat. It's exciting, and not necessarily in a good way lol
Don't know about speeds. He had a 12hp on it at the time.
