I currently have a 16x38 GD hull and 23hp GDLT, thinking about upgrading to 35hp longtail. Anyone have a 16X38 GD with a 35hp longtail on the back? What should I be expecting as far as speed with the extra HP? Also, should I go with a 35 GDLT or a 35 SWOMP? |

If you like the GD you have now then go with another GD. Backwater is gaining a huge following and you rarely (if ever) see a complaint about them. I had a 23 SWOMP and loved it. The 35 is going to carry a load MUCH better. I don't know how the speed will compare to the 23, but it won't be a HUGE difference. I would expect 5mph or so, but you'll be able to carry the speed with a load in the boat. |

I can run 18-19 mph empty right now and about 14 with a hunting load. If I could get 20mph with a hunting load that would be well worth the expense of the new motor. You think that is possible? |

I would expect over 20 with a hunt load. My 22 predator powered SWOMP ran 18-19 with a load. The different design contributes to the added speed as well. |
