Went to start up my 20 Briggs and it says no I'm too cold to be working. It acts real sluggish. I put the charger on the battery for a couple of hours to see if that maybe the problem checked it again and still a no go. It acted funny last weekend but it finally started and ran good. Is there anything I can do during the week while it sits in the yard not bring used. Would it help if I just cranked it up and let it run a little while during the week? I'm pretty new to the MM deal. Thanks in advance for the help and info.

It would help if you ran the motor throughout the week. The oil can get a little thick when it gets colder. Especially if you are further North.

It has gotten so EFFIN cold here lately that my motors starter locks up and wont spin.. and if it hasnt been started in the last 24 hours its a REAL bitch to start by the pullstart. so I feel your pain. I kinda wish they would make a 2 stroke motor just for the ease of cold starting...

Here in Central Florida it's been in the upper teens. And what I do is take a 500 watt lamp(the kind for ten to twelve dollars at Lowes)set it up about 2 1/2 feet from the starter side of the motor the night before I go out.And the motor starts right up no problem.Don't have it pointing at the plastic front cover.(I have a 31hp longtail)When I go out in the morning the block and starter is warm and away we go.I also have a large wash tub sitting on top of the motor to help catch the heat.hope this helps.

I have an easy fix. Keep it in the garage. Works every time.

If you ever saw my garage you would say AHHHH OK now I know.My son's 1860 G-3,1-350 Chevy motor,1-4.3 Chevy,2-wire welders,1-300 amp tig,1-AC/DC stick machine,1-small metal lathe,etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.etc.No room for my boat sits outside under one of those free standing cars ports.
