Took the alweld 1752 with the swomp 35 out tonight. With my brother and I we ran 22 no current. Other than the occasional blowout it the best thing I've ever bought! Rpms were 3950 wot. It would go through anything! Wish I would have bought one sooner! |

Ok thanks! Motor was used when I bought it. It had 12 hours on it. Friend of mine didn't want to sell it really but said if I bought it he would try a surface drive. How does that trim need to be set? How often should I grease everything? What oil is best for that motor? |

I'll check those videos out. Hopefully for the river this summer it will work. Some say it will others say it won't. Where I ran it yesterday was mostly muddy shallow stuff that most boats around here can't go! I did put it in the river too but it's up some. I know that for duck season it will be the ticket! I'm trying to upload some videos to YouTube, once that happens I'll post links.. |

Good deal, good motor, good times! Get you an auto bilge and a floor! You can tweak the throttle after break in to around 4200 rpm and maybe get another 1.5 mph. ![]() |

I was thinking about using carpet covered plywood temporarily so the wife and kids don't trip, but take it out for duck season. Plus I plan on wiring it up soon too and install bilge pump, battery tray and trolling motor for bow fishing. I do know it doesn't use gas like my outboard jet! I have put 3 hours on it now and the gauge on my 6.5 gallon tank still says full!! I also called Jake at Backwater today and he told me to set my trim stop ball, and that may be why it's blowing out once in a while. |

Another thing you might consider , add a reverse tension spring to the back throttle linkage going to carb , ( to provide back tension to throttle cable ) then you can add a lever style throttle and accelerate and decelerate like a 4 wheeler or snow mobile . I hate those push mower throttles . All surface drives come with a lever throttle. It's a relativly inexpensive upgrade that will increase your full use , in my opinion. I've asked Arlon numerous times to make that a purchase option from Backwater. H Finn |

What different props can I run? Like I said earlier with boat 380, motor 225, me 265, my brother 170, misc. 50, I was able to run 22 MPH. Is there a prop that will help with top end? I am completely satisfied with it as my jet with same load would only run 24. I plan on having some kind of load 90% of the time with duck season being the heaviest loads. Thanks. Hopefully if I don't have to work tomorrow I'm going to take it out!! It's warming up here. |

Huck, I have always had the friction lever type of throttle, since my first GD 18. Like the "set it and forget it" for a while, especially when on plane, or needing full hand on tiller handle while executing more difficult turns or aqua terrain where you bump veggies, mud clumps, and the like. Sometimes the throttle creeps back but I only need a finger to reset to desired speed. I am thinking that the squeeze/ large flapper throttle would offer less hand holding power or requiring more assistance from other hand/arm? I remember driving my friend's 35 MB shorty with that type of throttle lever and it made sense for that motor but I recall having to use my other hand/arm to assist at times. I would like to try it, don't know of anyone in my marsh neighborhood that has one on a longtail. I agree that BW should be able to fab one and offer this option to buyers. |

The motor seems to have a clicking noise once in a while? Mostly when it blows out. I believe it's coming from U joint but it seems to be tight. What would cause that? You can hear it in YouTube videos. |

I may try to install that throttle. Mabye it's just part of it, the sound... it's more in super shallow stuff too. I'm hoping to go out tomorrow, I'll try to get a video of the sound I'm talking about. |

I noticed one thing, my motor mount isn't level with the boat. It's in the top hole. It is however level with the top of the transom angle. How should it be? |

My brother got his Backwater kit put together and we took our boats out to a place where we have some mud. Our kids had a blast! If pictures don't belong here please let me know. I take a lot of them especially from now on when we take these boats out! |
