Ok so I have a 9hp go devil frame but I have been given a 22hp predator motor which I can totally use on my 16' boat . will the frame and shaft handle the extra hp? I know I'll have to up the yoke on one side of the ujoint to 1" the shaft height is the same.

Im pretty sure the PTO height on the 9hp and the 22hp are not the same.

It will take some serious mods to the frame to handle the bigger motor.
Balance will be different too so that will have to be modded.

Then go for it.
you will need a new prop, and will need counter weight near the prop, to compensate for the heavier power head.

Im pretty sure they use 3/4" - 1" shafts or something close to that on the longtails.
You'll be fine

Too many RPM, no speed. You need to prop it according to Hp and typical load to get the right RPM at wide open in the water.

I talked to warren coco this morning about going from 9hp to 23 hp said it is possible but he said it would take some modifications. Cavitation plate angle needs to be changed, ribs on top on shaft added if it doesn't have it , change prop size and motor side yoke on u joint needs to be changed , and depending on motor your putting on it the pot shaft from motor maybe shorter and hard to line it up and make sure it's not rubbing on the bottom or top side of the shaft bushings . He said both motors use 3/4 inch shaft except when they build a 23 hp crawfish model it's a 7/8 shaft and double u joint said if it was a 58 inch long shaft and 3/4 diameter it broke them so they have to make them 7/8 and the double u joint helps with the vibrations the 7/8 shaft adds to it . So it can be done take some work and time figuring it all out right

Yep and that's what he suggested I'll probly end up do that instead of modifying my frame and having to by motor and everything.
