just wondering has anyone cut there frame to make there shaft longer. ive got a 22 in transome but only a 72 in shaft was thiinking of adding a foot to the frame. i can get a shaft made to 85 inches any thoughts would been helpful
i guess it could be done. the important part would be to make sure the spliced outer shaft housing is Perfectly aligned. and braced well. and the cavitation plate is at the right angle. but i guess it could be done if ya got time and patience

I just put a short shaft GD on my Tall transom boat. I just notched the flat bar on the top of the cavitation plate so that I could bend it up to the right angle. I just got it set right the other day so now I will weld my notch back up. Runs great and didn't cost me anything for a new plate.
