I am a novice mud-motor wanna-be. I was going to build my own for a 13ft. layout boat that I bought and called a friend who is a GM at a Briggs and Stratton plant for some recommendations on an engine. He told me that he knew nothing about mud motors, but had a colleauge that specialize in Asian mud motors and he would contact him for me. Long story short, my buddy brought me 5 long tail, completely constructed, long-tail shafts. All they need are a motor and prop, everything else is there. They are SS constructed and the shaft measures approx. 85 inches. The handle is U-shaped and the motor mount sits just below the handle. There is a pivoting T-post to attatch the frame to a transom in a drop-in style. It appears it would handle motors from about 3 to 10 hp, but again, I am a novice. I have asked my buddy to send me some more information about these shafts, but thought someone out there might know what I have and what they are worth? I only need one and might keep another, but I sure don't need 5!

they are discussed on boat design.net . They are out of Tialand. There is a fellow on there that imported some of them.

The ole saying "A pictures worth a 1000 words" is accurate here as well. I wouldn't mind purchasing one from you if you have an extra. Post up a pic. when you get a chance.
