I got a 8hp cause one place I hunt has a 10HP restriction, but I need a V-twin another place I hunt. Im thinking about building a boat to replace my 1436 bateau, and am wondering what size would work best for both a 8hp, and lets say a 23. Im thinking a 1634 or so, my fat friend says 1638. I think 1638 may be a little too much boat for the 8. What yall think? Im thinking I can get up to a 1848 out of a sheet of aluminum, but may can get a smaller sheet. Hell Im willing to go 1632 with 20" sides, but Im part indian ![]() |

My first GoDevil - an 8 hp LT - in about 1990 or so - was actually a second motor on a 20x72 center console 115 jet... The 8 hp pushed that boat well in almost no water.... Ran about 5 mph in deep water... Actually got me home twice when the jet was acting up.... Until IKE - took it - it pushed a 16x48 boat blind on a one mile square lease with extremely heavy vegitation.... So - I would suggest you buy / build the boat that it "right" for the larger motor... The 8 hp will work just fine sub-plane as a plow to get you around wherever you need to go... |
