Re: Who would keep the LT
Each has their pros and cons, there have been several situations this past duck season that I would have been better off with a LT, mostly shallow hard bottom with stumps. But...I would rather have my SD.

Re: Who would keep the LT
We have one of each, Lt on our marsh and flooded timber rig, and SD on our open shallow river rig with semi permnent boat blind on it. We hunt several different locals with different water conditions, its nice to have option of different rigs.

Denny, I did a job at a power plant on sullivan slough rd. up there. Thats a real nice area. As for longtails vs surface drive.... I like my go-devil crawdad but I bet I'd like a 35hp surface rig better!

Re: Who would keep the LT
although the sd may be faster and overall better engineering. there is always something to be said about a classic. of course i'd love to trade my ghetto rigged p.o.s., but if i had a good lt, i would never trade it for a sd

Thanks for the replies guys, moderators, I was wondering if this thread could be moved to the boats and blinds forum to get more exposure?

Re: Who would keep the LT
I love our prodrive's. Started out with an lt, but it was only a 13, and was not on very good boat. The sizes of the motors and the build quality on the new boats would make it hard to compare them apples to apples. I don't think I'll ever go back.
I will say they both have their advantages. Go drive them both. That will be the determining factor. What works well for one of us may not work well for you. My lil bro loves his lt, and is leaning towards getting a big lt rather than the sd.

Re: Who would keep the LT
It really depends on what your going to be doing with it and where you run it I love my lt. The only down side is the speed. Everyone says they beat you up but my boat runs real some the majority of the time I just keep my hand on the handle to keep it straight.

Re: Who would keep the LT
I currently have a LT but will have a surface drive when i get the money!! When I bought my rig I new that I wanted a mm but did not have the cash for a SD. My lt set up will run circles around my buddies in the mud( not sure if its the setup or they don't know how to drive theirs or combination unless they hit the mud hallin ass they are stuck!!) Reason for wanting to switch is speed. I hate being last to a spot. Reverse and neutral option would be nice also for picking up dekes.

Re: Who would keep the LT
My brother has a 27GD LT I have MB35 Hd we both have them on 16 foot flats his a true flat mines a semi v. Their have been times where he can dig into the mud and get more places but as far as manurvuring and turning fast I love my SD and the fact i dont have to stand up to drive if I dont want to. not that you cant sit with a longtail but its not nearly as comfortable. I also found it was alot easier transisiton from my outboard to a SD vs LT where i know it took my brother a while to get use to turning and having to slow down when you turn. All in all they are both great but Ill never trade in my SD
