Post subject:  cutting skag on swamp runner

I have 2 swamp runner long tails, 1 is 6.5hp with mid level upgrade. second is 13.5 honda, stock except for opening up governor a bit. I ran the 13.5 yesterday in very shallow, like 2 - 4 inches of water and had a hell of a time making good time. I spun the tail inboard and rotated the skag 90deg and it made all the difference. I cannot see running without some protection for the prop, and on the small motor I cut about 1 inch off the skag, still offering protection with a new prop, and am pretty sure I am going to do the same with the larger motor. Anybody else shorten their skag, and if so how much?
