I was wondering? Are longtail mudmotors the same as internal combustion outboard engines? If so, then I guess it has to be titled in Texas since it's what I read in the Texas Outdoor Annual. I just purchased a longtail and didn't realize I might need a title for it in Texas. Anyone know? |

Yes sir - every motor over 5 hp is supposed to be titled by law.... Can't say for sure - but only 1 in 10 times I get checked do they want to see the motor card but there is that 1 time that they do ! ! ! I think you can even do a reverse title if it came from another state and was never titled there or it is homebuilt they pretty much take your word and a bill of sale and crank one out.... Call your local TPWD office or drop by and chat with them - they are much friendlier than the guys at the boat ramp writing tickets..... I have reverse titled salvage boats and salvage motors before - pretty easy process.... Salvage laws are pretty flexable... |
