 16 HP GDLT Questions
I have a older 16 horse godevil longtail. It has a small 3blade prop on it that measures about 7 1/4" across. Any idea what year it may be or how to tell? My question is would i benifit from a new 2 blade prop and what size? the motor is on a 1454 and pushes it ok it only gets a few times a season. Im thinking of putting pods on the boat also. Thanks in advance for any suggestiond or help.

 Re: 16 HP GDLT Questions
I don't have much help for you on the prop or finding the year of the motor. Maybe call coco at gd.
As for the pods, what are you hoping to gain? If the boat floats the motor fine, I would spend the money elsewhere. Only thing the pods are gonna help is water coming over the back of the transom. If that's not a big problem, I would not reccomend em. They aren't gonna help performance, or turning, or really anything other than a backwash problem. I would assume that a boat that wide doesn't have a problem floating the lil 16. If you do think you need em, get them built for your boat, do not buy the prefab's from beavertail. You will be much happier, and they will be built to suit your needs.

 Re: 16 HP GDLT Questions
A 2 balde is much better in mud! a 16hp go-devil is called for a 9x3 but i would suggest getting a 9x4 for a little more time on the prop! i have a 20hp which i called for a 9x4 but i have a 9x6 on it and it perfomes a little better and last a little bit longer!

 Re: 16 HP GDLT Questions
I put a 9X5 on my old 16 GDLT and it runs like a champ, UNLESS its pushing a lot of weight. if I were to do it again, I would go with the 9x4 I think. anywho.. if you get the serial number off the plate under your upper bushing (below your Ujoint) and call godevil, they can tell you what year it is and register the unit under your name, that way if you ever need parts or anything you dont have to get your serial number every time. anywho. I also have pods on my 1436, and unless you are having some problems getting the rear end to float I wouldnt bother with pods, specially with such a wide boat. anywho. hope this helps.
