 1642 or 48
I'm running a 1442 with a 27 beavertail its a great rig just too easy to ovrload it. I'm going to a 16' but can't decide on a 42 or 48. I've always heard to stay with a narrower boat for a long tail. Any suggestions or does 6" in the boat world really matter?

48" -- You cant go wrong... Wide enough but not to wide.. IMO... More surface area for carrying a load, but stiill narrow enough for running trees..

X3 Unless you can find an 18 X 48 for the same price. The longtails do slow down when the width gets over 48 inches. I've run the 27 hp longtail on 24 X 40 and 24 X 42 boats with fine performance. The long boats are harder to steer, but they will carry a heck of a load.
