yep bought me a wind turbine, its a small one but only cost around $150.00 and puts out around 650 watts of power. Mounts on the backside of my roof on my house. Im hopingit cuts my utlitly bill by a 1/3 or more. If this works well, I'll buy a couple more and and even cut by utility bill more then that. Also bought a water heater timer too.

Anyone here going green ? BTW I'm only going green cause Im broke, not cause I care about the ozone, cfs or any liberal BS.

:D

Thats a purdy good idea you gots there !!!! Keep us on the update on that.

Bad thang is tho ~ our electricity bill will still rise and cost us out of pocket the same or more 'cause the company ain't sellin' as much so higher rates to offset less use !!!

I gots some friends that are loosin' thays Deer lease out in Concho County to them wind mills fo electricity. The land owner is gonna make mo money off them wind mills than his Deer hunters ...... you belive that ?!?!?!?

Checked into the wind power deal a few weeks ago.

Was/is going to cost me about $50k to set it up, but with tax rebates and incentives it will be approximately $30k out of pocket.

The way I calculate it I should have about 38 month ROI based on my $750-1000 per month Elec. bill.

Now I just have to convince the wife to let me un ass with $30k

Have y'all looked into solar power? The Fed's give you a 30% credit and for LA folks you get an additional 50% credit. In theory about 80% of the cost of the system would be reimbursed. I was told though, that a 9kw system only cuts your bill down by about $150 a month. I don't know how accurate that is.

Jon keep us posted on this. This would be pretty slick on my pole barn. The guy selling them is just down the road from me. And right in BM Barrelcookers neighborhood.

I already have installed all compact flourescents bulbs and I heat and cool my house using the ground, got a instananous water heater, so I dont pull many watts, gonna need three or four of them and I'll be set.
