Braud passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was 80, a native of New Orleans and resident of Gonzales. He was the owner of SACS Western Store for over 40 years and an active Ascension Parish Community Supporter. He was a lifelong businessman, horseman and cattleman. He is respected and loved by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Shelley Kenney Braud; daughters, Gay Robert and husband Danny, Elisha Whitstine and husband, Steven; sons, Rod Braud and wife, Nicole and Jason Emory and wife, Quinna; daughter in law, Caroline Braud; sister, Sandra Stewart and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Dustin, Mikie, Cori, Randi, Ryan, Jude, Taylor, Jessica and Cash; and great grandchildren, Madelyn, Mia, Karsyn, Cyrus, Eliyah, and Canyon. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Michael Braud and parents, Clarence Alfred Braud and Theresa Bordelon Diez. Visiting will be at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Thursday, December 12 from 5 pm to 9 pm. Visiting resumes at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Gonzales on Friday from 8:30 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am. Burial to follow in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. Pallbearers will be Rod Braud, Jason Emory, Steven Whitstine, Joey Templet, Danny Robert, Ronnie Vallee. Honorary pallbearers will be Marty Buratt, William Brown, Joseph Breaux, Byron Fontenot, Steve Robert, and Don Robert.
