As far as standing on the front deck fishing all day goes, how much more comfortable is it with the hydroturf? worth the time and money? |

Hydro turf is one of the best add on's you can do to a boat in my opinion. |

Yup, it is a closed cell foam which is the same as most of your anti-fatigue mats... |

It is 6mm thick so yes it will provide somewhat of a cushion while standing on it, but the biggest thing with hydroturf is that no matter how wet the boat is, how much fish slime, or mud you have on your boots, it is the most non skid surface that you can put on a boat. |

It's the best investment you can put in your boat. The day I pulled my new boat in the driveway, that was the first thing my wife asked "where's the Hydroturf". During the summer my flip flops are hotter than the floor. Plus it quietens everything from beating on the aluminum. I even order extra to do inside my boxes. |

Should I order it with or without the adhesive backing? |

Sweet, well I'm gonna start with just the top deck so on the first sheet I will try with the adhesive. Also, should I sand some of the GTR grit paint down before I apply it? Or will that grit help it "grab" a little? |

I had it in my GD boat in 2010, my 2011 Gatortail and now in my 2014. I would suggest getting it with the 3m backing. I never had any of it come off. As far as installation, I go to the car wash and pressure wash and scrub it off real good. Let it dry and install. You can wipe the aluminum down with windex also. I like to install mine when it's cool because you can initially pull it up if needed if you make a mistake. Once the aluminum gets warm in the sun the Hydroturf is stuck for good. Just something to keep in mind. |

That's awesome looking Robertb4. That self adhesive is the way to go, its 3m and mine has been on for 4 years and the corners aren't even beginning to lift. I gave it a light sand as always and a good wipe with acetone. |

I had a sheet and a half left. Not counting the smaller pieces. I ordered 8 sheets. I knew I'd have some left. |

If you get grooved, don't worry about cutting it square because it's not. Cut along the grooves, it'll give a little to match up. And pay attention to your cuts, cut in the corner of the valley and have the next piece with the ridge. Kind of like have male and female ends... If you do it right, you won't even know where the seem is when you finish. No need to sand with the 3M backing, just clean it good with acetone and stick it down. I had to remove a section later on and only got it up one square inch at the time |
