Anybody have dealings with the FEMA Trailers
I got a line on a FEMA trailer. It is one of the Caviler trailers that had the Formaldehyde problem and FEMA scraped them.
Does anybody know what the problem was (other than OMG they had formaldehyde in em LOL) and is there a fix for it?
Im wanting to put it up at the deer lease for a camp.

I wouldn't worry about the femaldahyde, it won't kill you and from what I have been told, the only way it can really hurt is if you were to live in the camper for a really long time.

Re: Anybody have dealings with the FEMA Trailers
I worked for FEMA inspecting the trailers in NO after the hurricane. The ones people were living in. Some were completely trashed. Some were kept up pretty good. The ones they were putting out specifically for FEMA arent made very well. Check real close for leaks/ soft spots in the ceiling, walls and floors esp. the bathroom. Some have that strong "adhesive" smell that turned out to be formaldehyde. I noticed I was getting headaches like the people that lived in them if I were in there for a long time fixing something. Just check it out real close.

Re: Anybody have dealings with the FEMA Trailers
Guy at church bought 2. He bought them through a FEMA auction. He said to go and check out the ones you were interested in, some had been trashed (walls colored on, windows knocked out and some just plain looked like you locked a bear in them), others still had the plastic covering the furniture and carpets (never occupied). He also talked to a guy runnin the lot who informed him that when they were inspected/ gone over that any little thing would cause them to be labeled defective/damaged. For example, one of the ones he bought was tagged because the slide supposedly didn't work right. He said the slide worked perfectly. Guy told him that it could have hesitated a little when they tested it and to cover their butts they slapped a defective tag on it.
I think some of them were real bargains and some of them needed to be burned. Just check them out real good and if they pass your inspection and the price is right jump on one. Bank can give you the loan value wich is usually a good indication of whether you are getting a deal or not.
If I bought one that looked like it had been occupied I would bomb it for bugs a couple times and replace matresses if I even thought there might be a bedbug in it.
