Can't say enough about how much I am glad to have this forum! So, what is or has been your favorite Scripture or Bible passage? What do you think is the meaning behind it? Why do you like it so much? I'll start. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 6 Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. 7 You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” 8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. This really talks about tithing. But remember, tithing goes above and beyond monetary value. Give of your time, yourself, your belongings, your possessions. God does reward you for your generosity! |

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. |

Matthew 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. |

Proverbs 22:29 Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before unknown men I like it because it give honor to ANY work, not just doctors, lawyers or rap stars.......... All work done exceedingly will be blessed |

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" Seems to be the motto around here... ![]() |

Eph 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. God has a plan for our lives. That plan includes doing good works. The bible says, in the book of Acts chapter 10 verse 38, that Jesus went about doing good and healing all...This was the plan for Jesus' life, and it is the plan for our life as well. Jesus healed many people everywhere he went and taught them how to live a victorious life. When we surrender our lives totally to Christ we begin to step into the plan God has for our lives. We then can discover the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do. A friend of mine once said, “God is serious about his business.” Doing good and filling heaven is God’s business. So being Christ like, we should also be about the Father’s business. |

Brooks...Not a bad idea. I'll work on those thoughts. I have quite a few that could be discussed. Not sure I want to spark any controversy...but would rather go into "interpretations" or "teachings" of particular verses. Got one right now we are learning about...being missionaries of Jesus. I'll get it going Friday afternoon and try to post something weekly. Thanks for the idea, Brooks. |

QC...you are SO RIGHT! When most people think about religion and religious people, they tend to think docile, timid, quiet stereotypes. There are several accounts in the Bible where Jesus has proven to be a "Warrior" of sorts. Good reading on this subject is "Wild at Heart" by John Eldredge. It is basically a call to Christian men to "grow a pair." Well, not exactly...but he basically talks about breaking the stereotypes of Evangelical Christians. The back cover reads, "In Wild at Heart, John Eldredge invites men to recover their masculine heart, defined in the image of a passionate God." |

I also have the resolution hanging on my wall in the living room. Every time I pass by it reminds me of the responsibilities that God has entrusted me with as a father. |

One of my favorite parts of Scripture is: Galatians 2:20-21 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. |
