Post Supposed to be started?!?
I got a new pup that has been "started". Guy I bought her from did teach her to sit but that's it! I've been working her everyday for the past two weeks and seems like no hope. At 6-7 months old should she be doing alot more? Or is it too late? Oh and far as a kennel or trainer I can't afford it! Any advice would help on where to start. And I have been try to make her heel and learn the command but she only knows sit!

Have you trained a dog before?
If not get the Water Dog book and read it 2 or 3 times. That will get you off to the right start.
Your dog definitely is not too old to learn. Most dogs hit a hard-headed streak about 6 or 7 months old.
Work mostly on the obedience at first and let the retrieving be the fun part.

Water dog is a good book for the basic commands, it's time proven and it works. U have to be repetitive with the dog.

never to late!!! the book they are referring to is very good, there is also a video as well as several short youtube videos you can watch. the key is being consistent and working at least 10 to 15 minutes every day. always end training on a good note and if you get frustrated the pup will sense it.

Another good book is game dog. Same author as water dog. Has a few additional methods. Trained my first off water dog before i knew about game dog. Used Game Dog on this one and had great results.

Teaching a dog to just sit should have never classified the dog as "started" hope you didnt over pay for the pup dawg

When training just remember their attention span is at its strongest in the first ten minutes of training, they'll start fading and that's hen u get the most frustrated, throw fun bumpers and kennel him/her. Try again in a couple hours. Repeat repeat repeat
