You might try calling some of the professional dog trainers. Sometimes they have or know of good trained dogs for sale. My old trainer used to keep a pup from his good female every year and train it along with his customer dogs so that he always had a good dog for sale. It's worth a shot if you're serious.

EDIT: Nevermind, you're not going to find many trained hunting dogs for $200 bucks. Maybe house trained???

200-300 you will barely get a puppy. A solid trained Started dog that has 3-4 months of training without knowing handling will probably sell for 1500-2000 with a good bllood line. Fully trained you will see 5000+ depending.

Just giving you a hard time because you originally said you wanted a "hunt ready duck dog". That just means something different to me than what you're looking for.

Carry on.

Point is ya aint never gettin a "hunt ready dog" fer $200-$300! If you've trained your other dogs you should fricken know that. Even at yer cost fer $250 fer the dog ya bought. Add 2 years a trainin ta that and ya still wanna only pay $200-$300, yer off your damn rocker....

If niether one of the free ones work, I got a "ready to hunt" black male senior hunter at the bargain price of 3500.

I wouldn't call 3500 cheap for a finished dog, I would call it a good deal.

tex, I think he was referring to 200-300 as "cheap" You, however, would be correct, $3500 for a finshed dog would be a "good deal."

Post Re: .................................
Both my labs were given to me, first one was a yellow female lab, i trained her myself from 6 months on. I would have put her up against the best, some dogs just got it and she had it. buddy of mine received his dog back from a known trainer and said come over and check this out. I laughed loaded up my yellow and headed over there. He's like man this dog is awesome she does double retreives and side to side hand signals, i said yeah thats cool but watch this. I threw 4 dummies sent my girl after them one at a time, while on a retreive i threw the first one she brought me (unanounced to her) back out in the field. After she brought the 4th dummy back i sent her on a blind retreive for the last one i hid from her, one holler and 3 hand signals later i have all 4 dummies in my hand. He made a phone call. Now i have a black female lab and i trained her also, she runs with the better ones also. Not a ball of fire but she does what i need her to do which is jsut bring the birds to me. Point being yeah you can spend money on good dogs but there are good dogs out there that you don't have to spend money on if and when they are available
