How old should my dog be before force fetch!! It is a boykin spanial!!

6 months.

It would be best terry! I could get her started for ya....all dogs are different.....anywhere from 2-6 weeks normally.

While u at it force fetch my pup too

my 9 month old black lab is at the trainer right now just for force fetching i couldnt do it (lack of inexperience in training i guess) he said about 2 months and he will have her right....

you need to wait to do the force untill it has lost all of its baby teeth...that is somewhere around 6 months

She has lost them!!

Most important part is to teach them to "hold" as early as possible, 3-4 months. Once they understand hold, then ear pinch, stick fetch, collar fetch, etc. Back off while teething.

Somebody had in another thread the other day about baby teeth or bleeding gums. I started my dogs w/ a 1" dowel wrapped in t-shirt material to keep from hurting the gums and teeth. You want them to learn that holding the stick, bumper, duck or beer bottle is a good thing. This is by no means meant to hurt the dog. The first female that I did myself and really took up a lot of time w/ took about a week to really start to get it and 2-3 more to finish to where I wanted her. I could ride tail water ditches and shoot frogs w/ a 22 and she would fetch them. She would fetch my cell phone if I dropped it under the truck or table and bring to me. TIME my friend. The more time you spend the better they get.

a) just buy a lab

b) force fetch as a last resort

c) make sure the woman arent around to witness the session

I FF my dogs as soon as they have all their permenant teeth. As soon as you can after that. In my experience, the longer you wait, the more likely you are to get bit!

This male had been ff @ 5 or 6 months old & this took place about 12 to 15 months. He knew better but just trying his manhood. I am generally really easy on my dogs & have a big heart but dogs are like folks, some cant understand nothin but an ass-whippin.
