Post subject: | Barking Dog Question |
I'm working a new dog this year. He's 18 months old and doing good in the field. However, the fool barks while riding down the highway. Every mile of the way. Any suggestions on getting Chance to shut up? Uploaded with |

My neighbor took me to court over one of my labs barking, had to appear b4 the Judge and everything.. I bought a TriTronic and it was over she got hit a few times and it worked. I see the DOC's bag in your pic do you use the whole set up or just the bag. Just picked up the river rig set and those lines look crazy but he swore they would not tangle. |

is he kenneled while riding? is he kenneled at home? barks just while in the truck? i made the mistake of not kennel training one of my labs in the beginning and the first hunting season was hell, driving, sitting in the back of the truck at camp, or the hotel while kenneled (bark bark bark). needless to say many a middle of the night beatings ensued (only kidding for all the PETA folks on here). eventually time in the kennel while travling solved the problem. bark collar im sure would work but BE CAREFUL dogs can become head cases with exsessive use (he's still YOUNG). just my opinion GOOD LUCK. nice lookin pup |

I had the same problem with my lab. she was quite as a church mouse in her kennel at the house but as soon as i took off down the road she would bark. It was a pain in the ass but every time she barked i pulled over and corrected the issue, it took maybe 10 stops and she hasnt barked since. I would be careful using a bark collar in the kennel and the only reason is that dog may become "collar wise". there are correct ways to use them though. |

Slick, that's what Chance is doing. Really quite at home, but barks while in the dog box and the wheels are tuning. Stop and he's quite. I'm a little scared to start with a bark collar, although I am using a dogtra 300m while he's working. I guess I'll pull over and beat him...LOL. Regarding the Doc's stuff, yes I use their product. It has worked well for me. The bags seem to be tough and handy. I have not bought the river rig length yet, but I plan to. The shorter rigs are the bomb in my opinion. |

You don't need a bark collar. Just use da shock collar you use to train him wit. When he barks hit da button. |
