Post subject:  Papers/Registered Lab question???

I've gotta 4 year old double bred Slick Willy black lab. He was given to me by a man when the dog was a year old, he told me he has the papers on him but I never received them. Can I take him to the vet and have his blood drawn to get a new set? We raise bucking bulls and I know you can have blood drawn on them to register them in ABBI and to see what line they come from....just wondering if the same goes for a dog. Thanks for all info in advance.

I have never heard of that before. I know it isn't possible in AKC'S registry.

That doesn't make sense..if it's a "blood line" why in the hell can't you have it drawn and see? So if something was to happen to your papers...like thrown away by accident or worst case senario burn up in a house fire...that mean your just screwed?

only the dna off frequent breeding dogs is kept on record. As for loosing the papers the registered owner would have to request from the akc another copy.

Must be a bunch of Dam city slickers running that....because that's about retarded. Why can't people do chit the easy way? Na gotta be complicated.

Thanks Quack for the info, now I know what I gotta do. Appreciate it

Exactly, my point is when your dealing with millions of dogs, a 25 dollar registration fee, and average joe breeding labs in his laundry room, dem dere retarded city slickers pry aint gon have nun of dat fancy bloodwork on file

Well let me tell you another thing....the best dogs we've ever had, no matter if it's work dogs for cattle or hunting dogs. The dogs that have came from the nobody's, were always the better working and loyal dogs. My dad has a chocolate lab that was a stray...and he could do what any high powered lab wishes they could. Find ducks you didn't know you had even shot, point quail, and pheasant.

Then that means I can have my dogs blood run. If not, then the registrations are bullshit.
