Need some advise....I haven't had to house break a dog in a long time. I am having trouble with my new Boykin pup (he is 11 weeks old) I know he is kind of young but I seem to be going backwards with this. He was starting to go to the door when he needed to pee but know he pees inide more than outside and he only goes to the back door when he wants to go eat some bugs at night. Any training advise would be great!!!!!

Reward him when he goes outside, when he goes inside act like you dont know and then dont let him see you clean it up and clean it with something good so he cant smell it later. If he sees you clean it up, he'll get the idea thats where hes supposed to go and dont get on to him either caue some dogs think any attention is better than none.

May sound weird, i thought so myself from growing up with hunting dogs tht stayed outside but this worked like a charm with my 2 year old inside dog.

Really have to learn to read your dog, my pup always seemed to do the same thing before she would go pottie. I would also take her outside allot to avoid acidents in the house and then lot's of praise when they go outside. Try not giving him/her a chance to go in the house.

Just like changing the diaper on a newborn baby. You have to take them out more often. Keep him an a small crate at night. The smaller the better.
Then minute you let him out, take him out. At that age they need to stay out a bit longer than older dogs that know there are to go and do their business right then and there. Make it a game. Keep positive praise. If you notice that he is about to poop or pee, take him right outside. BUT don't scold him.

It doesn't take long. You just need patience. I had my lab doing his business outside in 2-3 months. Now, he stays inside all night. His last outing is around 9pm and goes back out around 6:30am.

Crate any time you are not payying complete attention to him. Take him out immediately after you get him out of the crate, after he eats or drinks, after he plays, etc. If you catch him IN THE ACT, not after the act, holler NO NO NO scoop him up and run outside with him where you want him to go then praise as soon as he goes outside. Set him up for success not failure. You may also want to designate a small area of your yard where you take him to make it easier for him to understand that only this spot is OK.

I house trained my lab in 2 weeks when she was 10 weeks old. She would wake us up at night to let her out. Just like a kid.
