I am getting my new pup tomorrow. Will be 6 week old Boykin who is on puppy chow according to the guy I'm getting her from. I went out and bought the performance pro plan all stages for her bc I have heard good things. Do I go straight to feeding her this or do I buy a small bag of the puppy chow and mix the 2 until she is weened off of the puppy chow little by little? Any help is appreciated!

Sent from my GTR...yep, it can do this too.

Duck hearse. Miller lite or corona extra will be good when she is thirsty lol.

Dfou-I get what u r saying and that is my plan but the breeder has her on puppy chow and I want to switch her to pro plan so do I just switch "cold turkey" so to speak or weene her off the puppy chow by mixing the puppy chow with pro plan at first?

only reason I would go with proina pro plan puppy is because it has more vitemans for puppys

I didn't see a puppy formula in the pro plan but I will check again. The more vitamin thing makes sense.

Duck hearse give me a shout tomorrow when u get close.

6 weeks sounds kinda young to be separated, 8 is the usual norm I waited till mine was 9 just because I flew her in from 2500miles away. Like most people said do a gradual weening starting with a 1/4 of the portion of new food and 3/4 of the old food for a week then go 1/2 and 1/2 then 3/4 new and 1/4 old and then all new.a three week transition. This will be less of a shock on the pups digestive system and you will be less likely to have runny stool. You always want a good firm stool that way you know your dog it getting the most out of the food you are feeding.

Later

7 weeks is perfect. Puppys sense of smell is the strongest at this stage. Their eye sight is still pretty poor. They rely on their noses for safety, comfort, and the start of the 7th week socialization period. This is the best time imo to develop a relationship with the pup.
I did pro plan puppy til 6 months, then went to large breed puppy pro plan til 1 year. Adult pro plan ever since.

Pro plan performance is for all stages of life that's why they tell u to feed a brood bitch the performance too bc it has all the high nutrients a pup or a grown dog needs
