Well, the forecast for this morning is a -45ºF wind chill. With about 12" of snow
on the ground, my four retrievers are in hibernation mode.
Back in late May, I injured my shoulder. I put off surgery as long as my doctor
would allow (week before Thanksgiving). This gave me at least part of the Illinois
duck hunt season. It's been quite a drag since the surgery. About a week ago
the sling came off and therapy is going well. I can drive again, but with this
northern Illinois weather...so what?
This morning I was thinking mostly about next spring and training. I train alone
because this approach allows me to get more done in less time. Every setup is
designed and run for just what each of my dogs needs. Over the years, the
system has been refined. We do some hunt tests, but mostly focus on getting
ready for every hunting season. The last five years we've been hunting the
Mississippi river in pool 13.
Here's link to a page on training alone. Maybe it will provide some useful info (or not).
