Re: Dog training whistle
I like the little orange one with the pea in it. Good for me out at 100-200 yards or closer.

Re: Dog training whistle
I notice a lot of guys wearing 2 whistles on their lanyard. What's the difference between the 2 and their uses?

Re: Dog training whistle
Got the little orange one . Proublem is you have to really blow hard to get good sound but then it's loud enough to wake the dead.

Re: Dog training whistle
This is the one I use. The guy that trained my dog suggested it since it's the type he has always used.

Re: Dog training whistle
I use this one and the same Fox 40 as Quackhead above. No pea in either one. http://www.amazon.com/Acme-Whistle-211- ... og+whistle

Re: Dog training whistle
I hate the Fox 40. It hurts my ears. I like either a Mega Clear or The Answer for usual hunting stuff and the Dallesasse or Green Monster for the really long retrievers.

Re: Dog training whistle
I use the big dallasasse whistle for everything. They make a short and long version of it, ain't nobody ever complained about an extra inch. It's versatile enough that you can give it a quick toot and stay quiet in the marsh, or loud enough for the dog to hear over crashing waves when we hunt big water divers. Plus it's made here by a guy in Mayville WI!

Re: Dog training whistle
used to use the mega whistle but switched to the green monster (no longer made) but the dallasasse whistles sound pretty close to the green monster so need to pick up a few of the short hunt testers for hunting. like goosie said any of the acme base whistles are good for just about any distance and many situations where it is harder for a dog to hear a whistle.
