A beer can is about .005 thick so............
.100 = 20 beer cans thick
.125 = 25 beer cans thick

no it's not the one in the classifieds, but it is probably a simlar rig. Don't have any photos. Went and looked at it yesterday though. Talked him down to 3800, comes with 100+ G&H dekes and a daisy cutter (needs a new insert) and a floating push pole, and he will deliver. Hull has a some minor (to me) dings that you can see all over the bottom, but nothing appears to be a major hook and all looks to expected to me.

And on the hull thickness, there has to be reason why they dont make .100's any more. But is that justification enough to not buy one with a great trailer and throw a SD on it later?

I know the obvious physical difference between the two sizes, but is .125 really gonna take a hit that much better?

As long as you're not runnin thru a mine field of stumps and debris, you should be fine. Mine's a '99 model, so it's .100, but i'm runnin mud and marsh, not swamp and stumps. Not a bad price with the xtras thrown in.

I think I'll be posting the longtail in the classifieds tomorrow..... :mrgreen:

And I will be running some stumpy debris stricken areas. Can you get hooks repaired? Cuz I like the lay out of this hull; It's the split bench middle seat .

When you get a hook from impacts it stretches the aluminum some. So it will dent easier the next time if you pop it back out. And you will beat it to hell in stump fields. You can fill them in with body filler and steelflex over that. Stumps play hell on 3/16" so that .100 is gonna take a beating if you run in them.

Hey Camo, you have a hd4000 i can pick up for 3k???? :lol: i've been looking for a SD, and I'm thinking very heavily about that 27 PD up in Ft. Worth for 2500. I bet that'd push that hull a heck of a lot better than that LT!!

Camo, you sorry dog, thanks for rubbing that in my face. One heckofa deal!! I've found a few SD's in the 3k range, so as soon as i sell that LT maybe I'll get to run with you "big dogs"!!

Yup, it's official. I bought the boat!!! You old school longtailers must have one HELLUVA left hook, cuz I've been riding every day since and my shoulder is sore as all get out. But it sure is fun going through all the nasty stuff that I could never get to in an outboard! I believe that between my new found love for MM's and my previous affection for waterfowling, my life is close to good as can be. Thanks for spoiling it for my ol lady!

I have a .100 I wanted to save weight.

It does have some dents. I have put steelflex on it from day one.

I will have patch some places this summer. It fills in all the dents and dings. Slides over stuff much better. Just do not unhook the strap until it is in the water. The boat will slide off the trailer in a heartbeat

Well I would agree if you had a real big dog.

It saves 20% of the weight. .100 /.125 = .80 or 80% of the .125

I also have floatation in my boat. I would not have a commercial hull.

I took mine to my buddy that owns a prop shop. He also does a bunch of fab work. He beat out 2 different hooks that were pretty bad and then stitched up the weak spots. I'd think any fab shop worth their salt could do the same.

How did he "stitch up the weak spots"? Just curious what can be done...

Pics? Inside? Beat out? 'Stitching"?

It was an old riveted boat, that i had beat to hell. Had a hook/dent in front and a big hook in back, right at the transom. Used wooden block and a bfh to beat out the dents, then welded up the spots where the old, brittle metal gave out and broke. When he was finished, it was as good, or better than new.
