 go devil longtail losing mph
i was seeing if anyone can help me out with trying to figure out why my go devil is not as fast as it was right before duck season. It is a 20 hp go devil so its obviously not supposed to fly but 9 mph with only me and my lab...any answers?

Re: go devil longtail losing mph
check rpms and prop measurements. significant increase in rpms could mean prop wear. thats a good first step to diagnosing the issue.

Re: go devil longtail losing mph
I'd highly recommend a tach. not only does it serve as a diagnostic tool but also can give you engine hours which lets you practice a good mantience schedule.

Re: go devil longtail losing mph
As others have said, it sounds like a worn prop. Call Godevil with the serial number off the frame and order a prop and tach. Also, you can order a tach directly from the manufacturer at .... http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/index.php

Re: go devil longtail losing mph
measure your prop before ordering. The diameter and pitch was originally a 9x4 most probably so see how small it is now. check your cup in the prop also. if you determine for sure you need a new prop call gd tell them your serial numbers off the motor they'll send you what you need.

Clean your carb out, just cleaned mine out for the second time in 6 months, always getting clogged jets.

Re: go devil longtail losing mph
If you've lost significant mph, it may be a combination of things already listed. Also maybe check the bottom of your hull. If you've been stump jumping all season you might have some dings in the rear of the hull that will slow you down aswell.
goo luck.
