Re: How do they perform in the Sand????
Get you a rockguard so you dont run your prop into the sand. I have ran lots of sand with my new Prodrive and rock guard with no problems and no wear on my prop 20 hours and hardly any paint off the prop. Granted you can't run as shallow but you can still go pretty skinny.

Re: How do they perform in the Sand????
for sand, jet drive is the way to go. I sometimes hunt a reclaimed gravel pit. The bottom is all sand and bank gravel. It is death on my PD propeller. The good news is that so long as you aren't stuck, it isn't too bad to get out and walk.

Re: How do they perform in the Sand????
I'll run it in Millwood all day...and float all day. The operator puts the holes in the boat and if I happen to do so I'm a welder, I can fix it.

Re: How do they perform in the Sand????
If the water is to shallow to float the boat and sand is to hard for motor to pull, you should be able to step out and walk it off in knee boots w/ out getn pants wet. Also, If mud, sand mix is soft enuf to motor through, drop your motor low and keep motor running just enuf rpms to not stall until you can start picking up speed. Many more guys on here that have a lot more knowledge than I but if running in sand just go ahead and get another big blade on order.

How do they perform in the Sand????
Sand is the devil. Even for a airboat that can run dry ground. Stuff is like Velcro

I put in over on Hwy8 up stream from you to run lines this tiem of year and SAND SUCKS!!!! If you hit sand just get out and walk...its much cheaper that way. I need 9" in my boat to be able to get on step and keep it that way with a hard or soft sand bottom. Next tiem i'm up that way i'll give you a ring....i was wantign to look at the F4 hulls.....my girl turn 5 this year and she is wantign a boat Just mesn with ya. Where you actualy live?

Re: How do they perform in the Sand????
I ate up a GD 3 blade (35SD) in sand in less than 15 hours. Lets put it this way my trip back up to the truck on the big river went about 7-8 mph instead of 20 because I had a razor sharp micro prop! Yeah there went $$$ in short order. I want someone to make a prop out of D2 tool steel and then just not harden it past say RC55 or so to keep it from getting to brittle. Then let the rock guard keep it from hitting stuff and cracking off. Yeah you would want to carry a regular prop just in case it busted but I bet it would wear alot better than stainless would. The stainless these props are made from is way to soft for sand...it grinds off the cup in no time and you can kiss goodbye to ALL speed!

Re: How do they perform in the Sand????
I don't think it will matter what your prop is made out of, sand will still win From what everbodies said on here, and my own experience with it with other rigs

Re: How do they perform in the Sand????
I run all sand... It's terrible for props. I've worn off my rock guard and burned many props.
I burned a prop to totally unuseable condition the first hour I ever had my first mud motor.
