Post Anyone else breaking ice on Memorial day?
Went to a half frozen lake with rotten ice on it for a little fishing. Like the other day, the fishing sucked so I decided to make the girlfriend suffer by "being a boy" with new boat. I only wish the camera battery didn't die or I would have more footage.

One thing I noticed, motor performance sucked at 5K feet. I didn't want to get out the gps because it would have made me sad. I now know at least a little bit more about my limitations, I figure I will be able to run in a couple inches of hard water and then use my boat and motor to clear a gigantic hole for the birds to drop in to. It will be awesome.

Here is me deciding if running through two or three inches of rotten ice is a good idea.

It didn't seem to matter how far I trimmed it down, the prop was still grinding ice like a blender and I suspect that is probably not the best for it but it was fun watching those chunks fly. This is the first thing I ever put on youtube, going to get a video camera soon and hopefully get some better footage.

Can't seem to figure out how to get the utube video to show up in the thread. Any help on that?

Benny thanks for the post! You sure live in a very lovely area. I'm sure there are ways to improve your mm performance in high altitude areas. Someone will be able to help you out. I bet there is alot of Lewis and Clark history where you at???
Thanks
Randy

Benny, 4 inches of rotten ice is cake...wait until you get more stick time on the Hyper, you sail a goose 100 yards into the ice in Cougar Bay and to the horror then amazement of everyone else hunting Cougar, you "go for it" and chew your way through 2 or 3 inches of hard ice to get the bird.

The hardest part about that trick is 180ing the boat to get back out...unless you have Full Power Reverse  . Actually, a thrown anchor and a push pole does a pretty good job of breaking it up for you "forward only" types.

I love slinging me some ice.
