Help with boat decision for my 27
Hey guys, I just bought an 09 Beavertail 27 longtail. I eventually want to get a nice mud hull but for now I need to get something cheap to run it on. I already have a trailer so I was thinking of a 1542 alumacraft. You can get them from academy for 999. Just want to make sure it will be ok with longtail. Like I said I know it's not perfect but need to save some money here seeing how I have a lot I bigger finances coming up. Thanks.

That will work, though a 16-18' hull would be better. I've got a 27 MB LT on a 1648 Grizzly and its ok, but I am looking at an 1848 down the road w/35..

Yeh I know it would be better. Just trying to save some money for now. It's for shallow fishing not hunting. Also there is a local pod dealer in town that I could add later.

Just want to make sure its not going to sink. If its rated for 25 hp it should be one with 27 longtail correct?

I have no idea, bud. Just saying that could be a reason. Some kind of option, tall sides or transom, floor, hull thickness, etc.
Like I said though, could just be that academy buys more and gets em at a better price. You'd have to look in to it a little more to find out for sure.

So I called alumacraft and the one they sell at academy is a 1540 instead of 1542 like all the rest. They said that was the only difference. Think the 600 is worth the 2 inches wider?

Are you talking about the tracker topper? They didn't look as sturdy. The ribs dont go up the side like alumacraft. And they are both .063
