Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
Same person who said that his customers do not need clutches and that the best way to account for transom height is through adding length to the output shaft...Along with several other off the wall statements that he eventually goes back on. They make a good product and I think they have some good engineers working for/with them, but old GF needs to shut his damn mouth some times.

I also forgot that his customers do not need reverse because they have "full power forward"

Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
Local GD dealer here tried same tactics at the show in Bmt w/e before last. I was giving test rides last Friday & was told by the customers that he told them not to even waste their time going by the GT booth because a GT wouldn't free float when going over obsticles like a GD would, as well as some other BS. I'm tryin to decide if I should send him a thank you card. I mean, after all, it was me proving his lies to be wrong that caused 2 customers to order their new "inferior" GT rigs.

Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
From what I see this a group just relizing the wonders of reverse (even though it was once said you didnt need that). Second, with all the hype about this thing we have not seen a true hard core, beating the f%$# out it, no remorse test drive video yet! I meen, I have seen harder test videos on outboards than those for this motor. Impress me,,,,,, cypress swamp with the trottle down! Then we will know what it can handle!

Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
BJ, you're correct, & I'm the 1st to admit it. When I made the swap, I jumped in with both feet, & haven't regretted it one time. One of the 1st things I tell customers looking at mud motors is I used to say I didn't need reverse, but after having it, I'll never own another without.

Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
I would bet that MB and Mercury have already designed a 180 degree rotating lower unit for that thing, but can't bring it to market until PD's patent runs out. When does it run out anyway?

Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
On the MB website, it says they have the same drive, gears, and clutch as a merc bravo 3. I can't see this being a good thing for someone who has alot of prop strikes like us NE Texas/SW Arkansas crew.
But, I will wait to pass judgement on it.
Edit: They also call it the "backwater moto cross drive". It doesn't get much gayer than that!

Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
I have a feeling ***** and mercury have teamed up. Mudbuddy is a guinea pig. Mayb ***** knows it maybe he doesn't . But for sure mercury is buildng his complete lower units. Or he says they are. At the expo in Lafayette I spoke w g-man. Over and over he said "it's a mercury verado based design built by mercury for mudbuddy. I only put the motor, shaft and prop, trim and handle. It's all mercury. What you dont like mercury?" I smile and go buy that brown gtr hat, kinda liked that one. Im a lil biased to Yamaha myself. Gatortail 12 wks behind and growing Prodrive 8 wks behind And growning Mudbuddy a couple years behind and growing New surface drive companies poppin up out of New York. I think there's a market these big companies can play in.

Re: MB Sport in South Louisiana
A Japanese produced air cooled outboard engine I bet is in the future. Just a matter of time. Maybe this is y ole g-man put a gear system rated for such large hp. Maybe nt bt I thought it sounded logical. His prices seem to reflect a larger manufacturing operation than Wat he has had in the past. Obviously it's a major company w serious manufacturing capabilities.
Cast aircraft grade stainless? Ur run of the mill machine shop or even a high end machine shop would not deal in casting Its a whole dif ball game

Now I might be a dumb ass but when you watch him trying to reverse the motors trimmed all the way down creating a downward pull on the ass of the boat from what I can tell. Don't think that's helping him out

Junk. "hit it hard" and "don't stop here". What the hell run that bad boy and if it gets stuck maybe they could rub the unicorn sticker for magical powers for it to hulk up and drop it's nuts and walk on the mud
