Are they still trying to build the mosque there or did it get stopped? I really think that is a slap in the face to you guys if it goes through.

You know, I almost fired back some nasty stuff here but its not worth the effort. I thought most of you would have the decency to see the powerful symbolism in that picture of the American Spirit, no matter what your political beliefs. I guess I was expecting too much.

Dguigry, you steered this post in the direction it went with your opening comment. If you had left the Democrat part out if it, it might have went a different course. But you couldn't leave that part out. Just had to remind everyone that you corrupted your daughter with your belief in a system that rewards laziness. That sir, is why the vast majority of the people on this forum believe you to be an ass!

I disagree with all of you. I chose my words carefully to show that we are all patriots and good Americans, democrats included.

Our different political views on how to improve our economy, fight our enemies, care for our citizens, and educate our children are what make us a strong and free nation. We are all Americans whether democrat or republican when times are tough. When I put up a picture of a young American democrat doing what she is doing, everyone should applaud. I'd do the same for your republican, libertarian, tea party daughter or son.

Does she work for Skanska?

he should be proud of what she has done. at least shes not another lawyer. and i'am sure that there is as many on the right signing those checks also i see no reason to discredit her.

Mr. Dyuidry I in no way meant any disrespect to you or your daughter. I was genuine curious if that mosque was still being built. I certainly understand the pride you have and share with us for your daughter or any one of your children. I have a 17yrs old son who is currently being scouted by universities for a football scholarship. I am verry proud of him and what he has accomplish in his life so far,so yes I can relate with you as a father. I think you need to look at the way others perceive your always wanting to tell us about your children's achievements . I can safely say that if I was some 22yr old kid with a mud boat I would not give a rats ass what your kids did or do. I as a 43yrs old father can feel a sense of your wanting to share the joy your children can bring you in life. " I get it eh " I just think a lot of guys don 't . Maby some day they will.. P.S I have lived most of my life under a liberal federal government , Once they tried to take away our rights to own guns here that was enought to finally get them defeated we now have been under a conservative gov for 3 years life has never been better !! Only a fool would deny that C anada still has the best economy. My taxes are going down they got rid of us having to register my firearms they are keeping drugs illegal and the debt is being payed down and they are getting tough on crime passing new laws every day. If you can't understand why guys get so mad when you flaunt your political views Just try and leave them out. Iam Shure your live on this site will be better. Finally, a reasonable post (tinman's). Thanks. Here's my philosophy about posting political stuff on this forum. I don't do it to convince anyone...that will never happen here...not even close 'cause no one on here is "on the fence" politically. I do it because this is who I am. I don't cower to the pressure; I don't back down in spite of the odds. I think some respect me for this.

Regarding my children, yes I am very proud. I will be the first to admit that I over do it with my pride-fulness. I can't help myself sometimes. I should be more patient and insert references to them where its more appropriate or relevant. If you see me doing it again, please assume it was compulsive and just don't read the post. If you were my age you might understand how children consume your life and we tend to live our lives through them sometimes.

I have just one question, did the dam mosque get built or not? Dean? I think , if every thing works out right I should be able to come down south and meet with you. My son might be able to play ball one day for L.S.U. Know anyone on the coaching staff I have plans to buy and pick up another G.T. Boat.I will make plans to meet up with you. We can sit down and discuss some politics your country will have a term of left and mine a term of right it shoul be fun. I really hope I can at least get you to move a little more to the middle. g One other thing I would be a verry proud father if my son wanted to become a lawyer. I think we Canucks have a lot more love for them here.

I think your daughters participation in this is great dguidry! I am normally a quiet guy on here, but demorcrat or republican, i would be extremely proud of my baby girl if she was a part of a project like this!
