 advice on driving a LT
Where I hunt the mud is really soft I jump in and instantly I'm sunk 2-2.5ft deep in mud and the water is 4-5" deep and my LT prop just can't get any bite. I have to try and keep the prop in the clean water vs jamming down in the mud. I've always heard that if you can stick it in the mud you'll gain speed, but I don't. Is this a prop issue? Not sure the size of the prop, its what came on a 31hp beavertail.

For me to get bit in mud I've really got to dig it in there by pulling up hard on the handle as I drive through mud. If I get stuck use the prop to blow out a hole, pull the engine out, rev it up then drop it back in the hole again pulling up hard on the handle. I run without a cav plate so I may be able to dig a little deeper too though.

If I have 2.5 feet of that soft mud your talking about, Im going to be have a blast. There is no reason why your motor shouldnt take off in something like that, also running wide open isnt always the best way to keep from getting stuck, sometimes just half throttle and pull up on the handle and let the motor dig is the way to do it.

Start off at a lower rpm then increase it as you gain speed. Just, don't let it dig. Throttle down if it starts to dig, pull it out, and start at little higher rpm. repeat this until it takes off.

What's your prop look like? If you got any water on soft mud there shouldn't be a problem

Thanks, I figured the prop was getting a little off. Going to try a new one when I get my longtail fixed. Oh by the way, when I threw a piston in my 31 vanguard I was trying to push my way out of some shallows and I pulled the prop out to jam it back in and get some bite and thats when it went. I think it revved up to many RPMS out of the water and that was the end of story.

I stay out of the mud!  Sorry, but we have little mud here except mud "rafts" that are solid and will hang you up tight and hard to extricate. x2 on another prop and x2 on wearing the kill switch lanyard- make sure it works!
