 speed sound right
Guys i'm fairly new to mmt ,but i have been reading as a guest for months and really appreciate all the knowledge you all have to share. I recently bought a 35hp backwater LS that I put on my f&f 1548 with small pods 16" transom and true flat hull with runners. I am getting 23-25mph on average with 6gal gas, 80lb deep cycle battery, flip blind, me(190lbs) and a few back up essentials in case something breaks. Does this sound like respectable speeds? Also if it helps i'm running a 9x8 prop new

 Re: speed sound right
I would think your prop is pretty small. I would think you would be running a 10" or 11" prop with 35hp and a small boat.

 Re: speed sound right
What does your prop measure from tip to tip, should be 12 1/4", that 35 should be turning a big blade no matter size of boat, measure it from tip to tip and post it up, if you in the 11" range it needs to be replaced

 Re: speed sound right
The 9X8 is the correct prop for a Back Water longtail. NO longtail runs a 11 or 12" prop. MB experimented with a 11" with their new super longtail, but went to a 10".
Speeds sound great for a longtail. Sounds like you have a nice set up.

 Re: speed sound right
Prop measures 9" across by 2 3/4" front to back going to get a tiny tach to measure rpm's in the morning it helped that I finally got all the leaks out of the pods and I'm gonna do the break in oil change as well boat measures 16'8" long with pods with 1/8th in hull
