 Stainless steel surface drive
Would it be practical to build a 7hp surface drive out of stainless if cost was no issue? I have access to 316 stainless for free and was thinking of making the whole frame out of it . What do you think the minimum thickness for the pully housing should be?
Thanks for any help!!
For your time......

 Re: Stainless steel surface drive
If your building one anyway, and it's free, and you can weld it, then use it. Won't hurt anything.

If you got questions to be answered you cant be posting pics like this. These fellers get side tracked.

 Re: Stainless steel surface drive
If you go with stainless I wouldn't go any thicker than 1/8" stainless is heavy, and there's no way 7 hp will tear that up
