Post Registering Boat in Florida
I have a boat for sale that is registered here in Tennessee. We don't have to have titles on boats, motors, or trailers here.

A member here is interested in buying the boat and he lives in Florida.

Will he be able to register it with only a bill of sale? I do not have any titles. Is there a form I can fill out?

Thanks

With no title I believe he would have to register it as a home built. Depending on who you get at the tax collectors office they may ask for receipts for the building materials to show you built it. It can be a mess. I had to do this with a boat that was used on a privet lake and never registered.

They had an American greed about a guy taking fake deeds and registering in Michigan. He would use Tennessee as a starter. He would even get financing with this bill of sale. So I would imagine you won't have an issue in Florida.

Yes, but it is a real pain. My uncle gave me my first boat 12 ft Jon riveted hull and no title. It was back and forth at the tag office until I told them I built it. I hope I don't have an issue buying new from gt, because its not worth it. Another thing is getting it insured as home built, good freakin luck with that.

Yeah it's a pain in the butt!!!!! You have to have trailer registration and boat and bill of sale, I hate fl for that reason its just dumb how they do it, my buddy had to get one said it was home built but still huge pain in the butt. Think he ran half of duck season without it because it took so long.

Thanks for the info. The guy shorted me $350 on the sale, so I don't give a crap if he gets it registered or not.
