Post Unicorn news, gathered at the NOLA Boat show
A buddy of mine went to the boat show in the Superdome to order a new rig. He's getting a Gator Trax with a new MB Sport H. He was talking to some high up Mud Buddy personnel about the new motors. He asked why they were making 2 different types of motors. He was told that the Sport V was the first one they made and found that it didn't hold up to the abuse that hunters put the motors thru. So they designed the Sport H. The H was said to be tougher. The V is better suited for someone who is gonna be using it for long runs fishing and minimal stumps and stuff. He said it will do the same as the H, go thru just as much stuff, but it just might not hold up as well.

I'm honestly not trying to start a shitstorm on here. I am a mud buddy owner, and have been happy with my motor. I'm just wondering if anyone else had heard these comments before? Is one supposedly tougher than the other?

sounds like bullshit

i got some honest answers about the sport V at the sportsman show

he told me there is less than 10 out there right now being ran

after putting my eyes on it I told him straight up that it wont last...

the trim bracket and swivel point will not handle the abuse a mud motor takes

looks more like a aircooled outboard to me

So if you are buying the V do they tell you it's the weaker of the two models and you should use it just like a outboard? This sport H and sport V thing keeps getting gayer and gayer :!:

Maybe the V has less tiller torque than the H? So, it makes it more appealing to the weekend warrior fisherman so that he looks like a Swamp People character! LOL

the word was the V is for your fishermen and costal people with few stumps... it is balanced further to the rear (around 10 lbs more than H) so in the event of hitting stump it will be a little more force bouncing around.
the H is more balanced like the hyper so the motor will come up and fall down a little easier than the V

in stumps im sure the V would work, just like a prodrive in mud, but the H would be better if you know your running stumps.
its a shame the H dosent look more like the V the V looks slick.

I think the sport H is going to be a hit. I’m ordering one this week. Was going with the 45 mag but I want reverse.

An added benefit to the H –vs- the V is less saltwater spray on the power head when fishing the back country. That’s a plus for me.

H is a game changer. Don’t believe me. Look at all the posts that are popping up. They will continue to increase until they dominate this forum.

Hate if you wish.

The V is weighted much more than 10 lbs. N the rear. Try close to 60 lbs.
I could not believe how much more the V weighed n the back than the H.
I assume PD and GT are the same, I have never had them side by side like the sport motors were.

One thing for sure, the cast engine mounts on the V better b much stronger than what's needed on the H, or there will b severe cracking issues.
