 New 25 hp gatortail subaru
Im thinking about putting gatortails new 25 on my boat. I have a 16'x42" aluminum skiff. Do you think this motor will push this boat pretty good. I need opinions.

Feel free to PM or ask as many questions as you wanna know. My boat is a little wider, but performance wont be too far off. Here is my complete boat review. This is a different link than the one in your other post. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=39399

Re: New 25 hp gatortail subaru
I just picked up my 25 GTR yesterday from Pete. We put it on a War Eagle 1648. when I got back to Dallas I took the boat to Lewisville and ran it for a bit. The boat flys! Not sure on exact speeds, cause that's not as big of a deal to me. But Im pretty sure I was getting 25 mph+ easy.
You will like the motor, especially on that size boat.

Re: New 25 hp gatortail subaru
sounds like you need a tunnel hull more than a mud boat....where i hunt it is tidal and if you aint in a mud boat your stuck...Playing in the mud is practice for the real thing out on the flats. If you dont know how to work your machine in the mud, your done for. If you are not running mud, why not go tunnel hull, jack plate and outboard. It would definately work better with the boat you want or have. of course you may have to cut the tunnel out if ya aint got it. On the right hull, you can expect speeds from 28-30, depending on weight and size of hull. people pay thousands of dollars on mods for 2-3 mph......

Re: New 25 hp gatortail subaru
My post wasn't to bash in any way or to cause a stir. It was simply to point out how impressive these motors really are on a hull specifically designed for it, such as a Gator Tail or even Lucer's. I'm glad you are satisfied with your setup, I see no reason for you not to be...

Re: New 25 hp gatortail subaru
if its gonna be a toy, it wont be as fun as a mudhull.....that being said, if ya got an airboat, wtf do you need a sd for? I know you said as another option for ducks, but if you got such a good deal on the boat and trailer, sell them and make a little money and get a boat that will perform with a sd. Its like putting a v8 into an old vw....yea the engine will rev but the car wont perform.....it might roll down the street.......
