i guess thats what i get for bein a newbie and posting a thread asking for pros and cons of each. to be honest with yall it prolly wouldnt really matter which brand i got because i have never had any reason to have to run across a mudflat while goin duck hunting and chances are if your in the wax or certain parts of venice and there is a mudflat nothing is goin across it but an air boat bc its most likely sand.

this would be the same if i got on highlifter.com and started a thread that said any suggestions can-am or polaris? lol. but yalls posts have been entertaining.

and i've seen pro drives and mud buddies stuck in the same thick mud as a GTR, they will pretty much all get stuck in the same kind of shit

I got a new 35 gtr. Very happy with this motor. love the instant reverse. Controls are awesome.

Some folks say the PD reverse is stronger. Not sure since I don't own a PD. The 35 GTR reverse works very well.

Like previously mentioned test drive em both, there both great motors, So find the one that best suits your needs my boy.

haha nah. At first i was all gung hoe about a pro drive bc of the full power reverse and the 180 degree lower unit, but decided that, that is more shit that can break ( specially if you get the hydralic one) and i'd rather have a belt that got a life time warranty on it, and the GTR is faster and i like the instant reverse like a tiller handle outboard got, to me instant reverse would be a lot better for froggin and docking. all the pics and videos i seen on here and youtube is a bunch of bullshit that im not gunna put my rig through, if i wanted to go across straight mud i'd get a fuckin airboat. I got a 4 wheeler that is my toy that i tear up that was only 4 grand, im not about to abuse a $12,000 piece of equipment, thats just fucking retarded

I felt the same way about my boat and motor, for the first 2 years. Then I found a beaver dam and although I thought about it for a couple more trips out....eventually I became obsessed with launching over it.

What a blast, now I am looking for these chances everytime out.

I see a GTR being better in certain mud where the extra reach helps and until I got bb's skeg I thought GTR's had an advantage in real shallow hard bottoms but not now. In my neck of the woods I don't think there's a place where a GTR will do anything a PD can't but I would like to see a GTR in some places we go and how the reverse would work in grass that don't break. Not saying it can't do it, but I'd have to see it, seems like a reverse turning prop would just turn into a ball of bailing twine!

I run em both. There isn't anywhere on the lake I hunt that you can go with a GTR that a Pro-Drive cant. Both are great products, with some really great people making them. Instant reverse is really nice, and sufficient the majority of the time. I was in some thick thick grass last night, and had to back out of a spot, and it was giving the GTR hell, and I know my PD would have walked right out of it. I feel like the stock GTR is better in the grass than a PD that has not had any skeg modifications. There will be times like last night where I wished I had the PD, but for the most part, I am content with the switch I made to GTR.

I would highly suggest you drive both motors before making a decision.

Owen when it thick grass go forward and then reverse real quick make sure you keep the rpm up once motor starts vibrating repeat. I'm talking about quick pop it in and out till it starts once it starts get on it and trim up Don't be afraid to use the trim in reverse once under way.

I had it locked in and spinning high rpms and trimming up and down. It was shallow, and thick thick grass.

It's just the GTR pulls back and down, and the PD pulls back and up. both are good for accomplishing things in different situations.
