 HOPKINS prop
I just bought a Hopkins prop and a pro dive prop. I just wanted to see which one ran better for me . Had have a f86 excel 18/54 with a pro36 with mods . It had 11 gal of fuel two people 260/175 and a duck blind on it. I ran the pro prop first it ran ok had a vibration about 0-2000 rpm {never had a problem with there prop before} it ran 28-30 deep water. I ran the Hopkins prop same day it had more low end and ran 30-32 in deep water .Just wanted to post some number. Has anyone had a problem with there pro prop ??

 Re: HOPKINS prop
Which Hopkins did you get? How well did your bushing for in the hub of the Hopkins? Be careful. It needs to fit like the bushing does in the PD stock prop. If there is any play in it all, I mean ANY...you need to send that Hopkins to PD and let them turn it down in their lathe.

 Re: HOPKINS prop
The bushing went in good just like the pro drive prop I took it back off after I put the Hopkins on and it was tight look just like the old prop bushing .

 Re: HOPKINS prop
Interesting... what are the specs on your Hopkins prop? Pitch? Heavy cup or standard?

 HOPKINS prop
Hopkins propellor in Covington, LA. I have the Hopkins Cleaver in a 12 x 12. Not totally pleased with it yet. I need to bring it back to him for a little tweaking. Just don't have the time right now.
The Cleaver gave me a really great hole shot compared to the Prodrive stock tulip prop. But, load carrying is nowhere near what the tulip had...yet.
I don't know what it will do in the mud, yet. I have only ran the cleaver twice. Once with just me, once with two other guys. But, even just me in the boat- boat, motor, fuel, batteries and trolling motor is nearly 1600 lbs. total weight.
This is the cleaver.
Like I said, if you get one for a Prodrive, there have been a lot of guys that ran into problems running this prop because Hopkins doesn't turn down the bushing "just so." Prop goes on just a little cocked and things go wrong from there. I knew what everybody was talking about as soon as I tried to drop the bushing into the hub.

 Re: HOPKINS prop
Any luck with the Hopkins on a GTR?
Seems like most run the GT stock prop, I figure there's a reason but gotta ask.

 Re: HOPKINS prop
I had my friend do some work to it because it was slow on top. I can turn it 4700 if I need to but it's not pulling because it's trimmed so high.
