 New Gator Tail rig suggestions
Hi, I've been back and forth over my new build, and can't decide. I would like some input from yall. I am ordering a whole new rig. Either an 17 or 18x54 xtreme hull with a stage 1 35. I normally hunt 3-4 people. I fish quite a bit and this will be a dual purpose rig. Riding and fishing in the summer, and hunting in the winter. Pros/cons of both from anyone with experience with them will be greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Ari.P

It's 1 foot..... 12 inches....18 would be better for 4 hunters....

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
My thing is for that price a man can buy it and run it for a little while, sale it (and notbloose his ass)and make sure the mud motor thing is what he wants to get into. Also will know when he dropps the cash for a build what he wants and what he can expect. I see so many people jump out and buy these rigs thinking they know what they want and then in a few months its for sale and they loose their butt. Don't get me wrong I like those guys cause I try to buy their rig and run it to resale. All of us that have owned several of these Bosts know that each time we make changes to the next one. If I didn't have two sitting here right now I would have nastys boat sitting at the house cause there is no way you can build one anywhere close to the asking price.

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
Ari go with the 18x54, most of us have ran alot of different hulls and we all know what we would get next lol the 17x54 Ex is a really nice hull also but from talking to you before and listening to how you will be using the boat it seems the 18x54Ex would be your best bet plus a stock motor pushs this hull well and even better when the motor is modded to even a stage 1.

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
Thank you all for the replies. I'm seriously considering Nastys rig, as for the fish ability of it, I have even less experience in fishing out of mud boats. I sold my bay boat a few months ago and this rig will be my primary.

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
I only have one boat as well and is why I chose an 18x60. I like having the room.

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
Get the 18 I have an 18x54 now and my last boat was 17 footer the extra foot feels like a lot more. And by the way a stage 1 gtr will push that rig 33ish empty and 28 loaded with a 4 man hunting load

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
If I don't get what I want the first time around, I kick myself for it later down the road. Trucks, boats, etc. I now have a job that allows me to spend more than what I am used to; it allows me to get exactly what I want the first time. After talking to Bubba about it briefly, if I decide to get the 1854xtreme, I more than likely WON'T do any mods off the bat, maybe just exhaust. What can I expect out of it stock?

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
Man I want the extra foot for the room and stability when fishing. I kinda feel like 18' is a ton of boat to turn through some of our tight turns. Then again, its only 12 inches difference we're talking about here.

Re: New Gator Tail rig suggestions
I have a 17 x 48 I hunted ot of with a 40 outboard for a long time. This year I finally made the jump to a 18 60 extreme with a plain 35GTR. Runs 25 with 2 and no load. With 3 hunters, dog, blind, decoys, SBE11's, and a thousand or so shells for guns that kick like mules, I'm getting 17. This is just fine with me cause I'm 57 and speed ain't my focus. Ducks are. This boat is everything I've wanted and the motor has plenty of torque for the milfoil and mud here in N AL. The boat with .125 metal is a tank. No rear deck or bench or gun box or anything else. Open from front to back. You hunt long enough in a boat and you will want it so you can be flexible and decide what goes where. 18 ft is 10 foot longer than 17 ft with three hunters, gear and 'ol Choc. Killed a golden eye down here yesterday. Not many of them fly in here...
